We are a multidisciplinary team of professionals who educate on strengthening families and preventing abuse, and work to support the safety, well-being, and healing of children who have experienced maltreatment, or other crimes.
The SAFE Child Advocacy Center provides a comprehensive, culturally competent multidisciplinary team response to allegations of child sexual abuse and other crimes involving children, in a neutral, non-biased, child-friendly facility.
What is the SAFE Child Advocacy Center?
The Southeast Alaska Family Evaluation Child Advocacy Center ( SAFE CAC) is a neutral, non-biased, child-friendly place serving children throughout Southeast Alaska. We partner with a multi-disciplinary team of community professionals who offer a coordinated response to allegations of child maltreatment and other crimes involving children. Services include:
- Forensic Interviews & Forensic Medical Examinations
- Mental Health Counseling
- Crisis Intervention
- Family Advocacy
- Community Education about Child Maltreatment, Prevention and Response, Problematic Sexual Behaviors, Mandatory Reporting, and more
SAFE CAC works to decrease the overall impact of maltreatment by collecting legally defensible evidence to support successful prosecutions, providing resources and advocacy to caregivers on how to protect and support their children, reducing total community impact through intervention and services; and decreasing the number of children harmed by educating the community about awareness and prevention.
SAFE CAC opened in 2001 through the collaboration of community partners working with children who experience maltreatment in our community. The multi-disciplinary team approach was adopted to provide the best possible services to children and their families.
SAFE CAC is an Accredited Member of the National Children’s Alliance and a member of the Alaska Children’s Alliance.
